                                              Student Government

The students at Benton Middle School recently participated in a fundraiser to benefit a local boy, Wayd Wood. The students at BMS raised over $1,340, for Wayd; he has a type of childhood Leukemia. The catalyst for the money was a fundraiser called "Penny Wars."  The fundraiser was sponsored by the BMS Student Government. The idea behind having the classes "battle" each other to raise funds was orchestrated by Cameron Miller, a 6th Grade SGA Representative. Pictured are Mr. Cody Lane and Cameron Miller

On February 13, the Benton Middle Student Government sponsored an in-school dance to raise money for the Special Olympics Polar Bear Plunge, which will be held on February 20 at Kentucky Dam Village State Park. The students raised $209.85 for this great cause. One of the main highlights of the dance was when students were given the opportunity to purchase a ticket to put a pie in the faces of BMS teachers and Principal Kem Cothran.  The teachers volunteered on behalf of the cause and for the enjoyment of the student body.
