What is CODE?

CODEIf you walk around North Marshall, you will see the letters CODE posted everywhere. Underneath the letters are examples of student work. So, what is CODE? It is a method of teaching vocabulary words. Research shows that the best way for students to learn new words is to have them presented in a variety of ways. Since vocabulary is a part of every class, all our teachers are using these strategies. CODE stands for:

  • C- Connect- students connect new words to things they already know
  • O- Organize- students organize all their new terms in groups
  • D- Deep process - students do activities to help deepen their understanding of the new words
  • E- Exercise - students practice using the words

NMMS Discipline Policy

Empties for Cash

What to do:

  • Most of us have inkjet printers at home or work. Next time when you have an empty cartridge, don’t throw it away.
  • Just put it in a Ziploc bag or the original cartridge box and bring it to North Marshall Middle School and drop it off in the green recycling box in the front office.
  • Or contact Mrs. Robinson, Spirit Club Sponsor, and she’ll send you a special box or plastic bag to mail them in yourself at no cost to you.. Read More...

It's hard to believe our 2nd grading period is ending and we are heading into the holiday season! Report cards will go home with students on Tuesday, November 10th. If you have concerns regarding your child's academic progress, please call the school and set up a conference with his or her teachers. As November arrives, so does basketball season. Our girls' and boys' teams, as well as our cheerleaders, have been practicing and have already participated in some tournaments. We encourage you and your students to attend the ballgames. It is a great way to show our school spirit! We will also be recognizing several of our students organizations at half time of our home ballgames on the following schedule:

  • November 10- NMMS Leadership Team
  • December 1 - NMMS First Lego League Robotics Team
  • December 3 - Marshall County Special Olympics Team
  • December 15 - NMMS Academic Team
