What is Star Academy?
Star Academy is an alternative high school which uses computer based classes through Apex Learning to help students who are deficit in credits to graduate with a high school diploma. The students must not only finish the required credits to graduate, but must also complete a senior writing portfolio and take the appropriate state mandated tests for their grade level. It is governed by the Marshall County Board of Education and students follow the same code of conduct policies, attendance policy and calendar as all Marshall County schools.
Who do we accept?
If you are between the ages of 16-21, have dropped out of high school, have earned 16 or more high school credits, or are one grade level behind your peers, and want a high school diploma this program is for you. If you have extenuating circumstances that prevent you from attending MCHS all day, two different sessions are available. Students can attend from 8:00-11:00am or from 12:00-3:00pm. This student centered schedule allows flexibility for our students that work or have childcare responsibilities.
